Liz, Kevin, Christine, Marilyn O, Jack, and former member Peggy W attended the recent production of Port Authority at the Quotidian Theater in Bethesda a few weeks ago. The RKIDs found themselves mesmerized by the narratives recited by three actors. There was no action, just three men detailing their life stories with simple, plain language. It was rather sad (of course! It was Irish!!), but the group cheered up afterwards at dinner at Not Your Average Joe’s.
The First Saturday Brunch rolls (with butter) on. In November, Connie, Jack, Marilyn O, Sonja, Bobbie, Tom, Maura, Judy, Gina, Roger and Michelle gathered around the table for vittles and good chat.
Trip to Vietnam
The peripatetic Marilyn and Obie keep checking off items on their list of must-visit global places.
This journey took them to Vietnam, where they visited the War Remnants Museum, the CuChi Tunnels, the Reunification Palace, Halong Bay, and the "Hanoi Hilton," where John McCain was imprisoned. They sampled some phô where President Obama had dined and ate elephant ear fish along the Mekong River.
"It was a very emotional trip," said Marilyn. "We even saw the rooftop where the last Americans got on a helicopter to leave Vietnam in 1975. I understand so much more about what happened during the Vietnam War. "
American Evacuation Site
Marie V spent the first weekend in November visiting her dear friend Evelyn who has moved to Kingsport, Tennessee. The two had “a wonderful time” according to Marie. They toured the area and visited the Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium in Evelyn’s new home town.
It had been months since Kate had seen her son, so she recently boarded a plane and flew off to Marquette, Michigan for a chance to catch up with Cody. They had lots of positive mother/son time
